Italia che campia

Italy

Italia Che Cambia, “Changing Italy” is an online information platform born in 2012 to promote best practices of real positive change in Italy, focusing on topics such as: sustainability and environmental protection, community development and resilience, finance and circular economy, social and economic inclusion, education. Through its articles, video-interviews and an up-to-date interactive map that includes more than 3000 virtuous projects throughout the territory, Italia Che Cambia aims to be an effective tool for a personal, local and national change.

Throughout the years, Italia Che Cambia has became the point of reference for italian change-makers, looking for an alternative to the rhetoric of living in a constant crisis. Today Italia Che Cambia is a non-profit organization representing a social movement, organized by journalists, activists and local group of volunteers across the country. Besides for the national portal, there are three active regional portals of Italia Che Cambia: Piemonte, Liguria and Sicilia, that reproduce at local level the tools offered in the national portal, offering a more focused and direct interaction with stakeholder.

Our values are summarized in our 7 Sentieri, (7 paths) www.italiachecambia.org/sette-sentieri. Italia Che Cambia has a team of 11 members/journalists, 4 directors, 20+ collaborators, 1300 Agents of Change, 2000 virtuous projects mapped. 65.000 monthly unique users, 31.000 subscribers on our newsletter and 1,3M monthly coverage on Facebook. We also organize 40+ training courses a year to our users and Agents of Change.

Italia che Cambia works since the beginning of his activity, in 2012, on the communication and dissemination of good practice which address current social and environmental challenges and we can say that his principle focus is on the field of sustainable development. Except for the day by day news spread by the online newspaper, the most relevant activities that ICC has done in the areas of this project are: Our “1% to change Italy” campaign witch aims to reach the critical mass of 600.000 Agents of Change in Italy (1% of the population) in order to influence the political agenda and ensure a real change of the policies at the national and local level. Italia che Cambia aims to give tools to these Agents of Change to engage themselves in positive, systemic change, participating with 1% of their salary and/or 1% of their time.

The “2040 Vision”: action suggested to citizens, organizations and politicians, defined in 2015, after working with 100 ambassadors (representing associations, politics, companies, universities) to create ambitious but achievable proposals for a positive change on 17 topics, such as: housing, climate, disabilities, legality, etc. Periodically, Italia Che Cambia launches thematic campaigns which highlight one of the topics of the 2040 Vision, in order to stimulate a debate (and facilitate the change) among the communities.

Italia che Cambia was voted one of 4 Ashoka fellows in Italy for 2018. The contribution that ICC can bring in the project is the capability: to research the best practice currently ongoing to face the specific environmental and social challenges we want to address at italian level; to create facilitated activities to support the network development with the persons involved in that best practice and to communicate and reach a large community of citizens through the newspaper and his channels.
